Captain Eady's Lookout is a homestay bed and breakfast at 2 Moss Street, Portobello, on the Otago Peninsula about 20 km from central Dunedin. The house sits at the water's edge on Otago Harbour, with a secluded garden and harbour views.
### History
The character house was built early last century by Captain Eady, a ferry master who worked the harbour. The interior retains many antiques, and paintings by local artists hang throughout the house.
### Accommodation
Guest rooms are in the main house. The upstairs bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the water, while the bedroom below opens onto the garden. Breakfast is served in the conservatory looking out over the harbour. The property provides free WiFi and free private parking.
### Location
Portobello is the main village on the Otago Peninsula and a natural base for the Royal Albatross Colony at Taiaroa Head, the peninsula's ocean beaches, and its penguin and seal viewing.
### Suitability for business and event travel
This is a small hosted homestay with no meeting rooms or function space, so it is not a conference venue. It suits an individual delegate, a visiting speaker or a couple who want a quiet heritage stay on the peninsula either side of an event in the city, and it fits well as an add-on night for wildlife-focused incentive itineraries. Meeting requirements should be handled at separate Dunedin venues.
