Church Road is one of New Zealand's oldest and most awarded wineries, located at 150 Church Road in Napier, Hawke's Bay. Founded in 1897, it has more than a century of winemaking on the same site. Under pioneering winemaker Tom McDonald it produced its first vintage in the early 1900s and was the first in New Zealand to release a Cabernet Sauvignon, playing a foundational role in establishing the Hawke's Bay red-wine industry.
The estate provides a full winery experience. Its cellar door offers tastings and sales across the range, including the premium TOM and Church Road 1 wines, while the on-site restaurant serves an à la carte lunch menu built around locally sourced Hawke's Bay produce. Daily tours and tastings take visitors through the winemaking process, including a museum housed within old wine vats that tells the estate's history.
Church Road is a well-established events destination, hosting functions and concerts in its historic winery setting. For MICE organisers, the combination of heritage grounds, a restaurant, cellar door and event space makes it a distinctive Hawke's Bay venue for corporate lunches, incentive experiences, wine-focused group activities and celebratory functions. Its location in Taradale places it within easy reach of Napier and the wider Hawke's Bay wine district.
