Classic Motorcycle Mecca is a motorcycle museum at 25 Tay Street, Invercargill. It describes its collection as New Zealand's most diverse, with more than 300 classic bikes from around the world.
The displays include American marques such as Harley-Davidson, Indian and Henderson, British machines including Vincent, Brough Superior, BSA and Triumph, and European bikes such as BMW. There are tributes to speedway champion Ivan Mauger, Invercargill's Burt Munro and George Begg, along with an art gallery and custom bike displays.
The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm and has the Kickstart Cafe and audio tours. A combined Turbo Pass covers it and the neighbouring Transport World museum.
The museum offers venue hire for private functions, so a group can hold an event among the collection. It also takes part in events such as the Burt Munro Challenge. Capacities and hire rates are not published on the pages reviewed, so confirm details with the venue. It suits social programmes and function add-ons for groups visiting Southland.
