The Coastguard Hawke's Bay Operations and Education Centre is at 704 Meeanee Quay, Westshore, Napier, overlooking the inner harbour. It is the working base of a volunteer marine rescue unit, one of 63 Coastguard units around Aotearoa New Zealand, and its training rooms are hired out when not in use by the unit.
The main training room is on the second floor of the operations centre. It seats 30 in a classroom layout and up to 50 theatre style for a meeting or training session, with a harbour outlook that sets it apart from a standard hotel meeting room. A full kitchen is attached, so groups can self-cater or bring in a caterer; the unit works with a local catering company that can supply anything from finger food to full-course meals.
For larger events the building can provide two full kitchen suites plus an additional downstairs breakout room seating up to 20. That gives you a plenary upstairs with a syndicate room below, which is enough structure for a proper workshop day.
Published rates are $200 for a full day and $130 for a half day upstairs, and $130 full day or $90 half day downstairs, with longer-term discounted rates available. Confirm current pricing when booking. The office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 1pm.
The venue suits training courses, staff workshops, seminars, board and committee meetings, and full-day offsites for up to 50 people. There is no accommodation on site and no in-house restaurant, so it works as a day venue within a wider Napier programme rather than a residential conference base.
One point matters for organisations with a community or corporate responsibility angle: hire income goes to a volunteer rescue charity, so booking the room directly supports search and rescue work on the bay.
