Giant Public House is the taproom of Giant Brewing, an independent, locally owned brewery at 6 Treachers Lane, Havelock North. The business began in 2014 as a small side project involving two brothers and a friend, starting in an old barn under Te Mata Peak before moving to a larger site while keeping a small-scale approach.
Giant brews five beer lines: Pils, NZPA, APA, IPA and LTD, the last being one-off and seasonal releases. The taproom also stocks guest beers from other New Zealand independents, along with wine, cider and spirits. An all-day food menu is provided in partnership with Gina's Food Truck.
Published hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 3pm until late and Friday to Sunday from 12pm until late. It is closed on Mondays.
The venue accepts functions and table reservations by email or text, giving name, contact number and party size. This makes it a relaxed option for team gatherings or informal client drinks in Havelock North. Capacity figures are not published, so enquire directly.
