Grand Millennium Auckland is a 452-room hotel at 71 Mayoral Drive, on the corner of Vincent Street, adjoining Aotea Square and the Auckland Arts precinct (the Civic Theatre, Aotea Centre and Auckland Town Hall are all close by). The 12-storey, atrium-styled hotel is one of the larger conference hotels in the Auckland CBD.
The hotel offers more than 1,500 sqm of event space across 16 flexible function venues, with a stated capacity to host over 1,000 guests. The Grand Millennium Ballroom (830 sqm) can seat up to 550 banquet-style or 800 theatre-style, and breaks into four separate spaces - the Millennium Ballroom, Tasman 1, Tasman 2 and a boardroom. Additional venues include the naturally lit Aucklander Room (up to 120 theatre-style), the Coromandel Room (up to 80 theatre-style or 50 classroom-style), and the Tui Suites, suited to intimate dinners for 20 or theatre-style meetings for up to 25. A dedicated Business Centre provides five further meeting spaces - three boardrooms for 10 people and two for four - available by the hour or full day, and a rooftop deck area is available for cocktail functions and outdoor banquets. This range of spaces, combined with 452 rooms on-site, supports residential conferences as well as one-day meetings.
The hotel's five food and beverage outlets include Katsura, a Japanese restaurant with a seafood buffet, sashimi and a sushi raw bar; Ember Restaurant; Estelle's Bar; The Aviary lobby bar; and the immersive Dine in the Dark (Dans le Noir) concept. Guests also have access to a heated pool, sauna and gym.
Grand Millennium Auckland has long been counted among the city's largest hotels for conference groups, and holds Qualmark's 5-Star rating and a Qualmark Gold Sustainable Tourism Award. From late 2023 it has been undergoing a staged, property-wide refurbishment - reported at around $30 million - covering guest rooms and suites, restaurants, bars and conference facilities. Under a five-year lease commencing 24 November 2025, the hotel continues to be operated by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels New Zealand, with CDL Hospitality Real Estate Investment Trust as owner.
With extensive, flexible event space, on-site accommodation and a location adjoining Aotea Square's civic and arts venues, Grand Millennium Auckland is geared toward conferences, exhibitions and incentive groups needing scale in the heart of the CBD.
