The R.C. MacInnes Pavilion is the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association's clubrooms and function space at Nelson Park, 35 Jull Street, Napier South. Nelson Park is a Napier City Council sportsground with seven senior cricket wickets and several practice areas; the Hawke's Bay Cricket Association, the Nelson Park Tennis Club and the City of Napier Pipe Band each have pavilions on the park.
The pavilion is a single-room function facility with seating for up to 80 people. It is a clubroom rather than a purpose-built conference venue, so the fit-out is practical: an open room overlooking the cricket ground, suited to seated meals, presentations and stand-up functions. Hire is available on a full-day basis, and the association also offers an option for hirers to arrange their own catering.
The association promotes the pavilion for club functions, prizegivings, staff events, reunions, jubilees, Christmas functions, wedding receptions and demonstrations. For meetings and small conferences, it works as an affordable single-room option for groups of up to around 80, with the sportsground setting an advantage for team days, sports-linked events and outdoor break-out activity. Nelson Park is close to central Napier and has on-site ground access and parking typical of a suburban sports reserve.
This is a modest, community-scale venue rather than a full-service conference facility. It suits small meetings, training days, club or corporate social functions and post-event gatherings where cost and simplicity matter more than fitted AV or in-house catering. Organisers planning anything larger or more technically demanding will want to compare it with other Napier venues.
