Inglewood Town Hall stands at 34 Cutfield Street in Inglewood, the largest of the New Plymouth District's inland towns, roughly 20 minutes' drive southeast of New Plymouth. It is hired out by New Plymouth District Council and remains the town's principal public hall.
Maximum capacity is 250. The building takes in a main hall with a gallery, a stage, a supper room, a kitchen and a reception area. Between them the spaces hold 20 tables, 200 chairs and a piano. The itemised furniture list runs to 13 trestle tables, 111 fabric-covered chairs, 91 fixed seats, and a further 52 fabric chairs in the supper room. The kitchen has a fridge and freezer but no crockery, so catering will need to bring its own service ware. Wheelchair access is available.
The combination of a galleried main hall, a stage and a separate supper room gives the venue more flexibility than most halls of this size — you can run a plenary in the main hall and use the supper room for catering, registration or a breakout. The supper room and kitchen can also be hired on their own for smaller bookings.
Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga lists the Town Hall as a Category 2 historic place, List No. 877, entered on 1 September 1983. Inglewood itself was founded in 1875 in a clearing in dense forest, settled by immigrants arriving under Julius Vogel's assisted immigration schemes from England, East Prussia, Denmark and Switzerland; the railway from New Plymouth reached the town in 1876. The hall remains in active use for community events.
Hire is arranged through New Plymouth District Council's venue hire service, with halls charged at an hourly rate. Hirers are required to hold public liability insurance, or can arrange cover through the council for a small premium. No AV is listed, so bring your own projection and sound.
Inglewood Town Hall is a workable option for conferences and seminars of up to around 200 seated, AGMs, industry and community meetings, training days, prizegivings and conference dinners. The stage supports keynote and awards formats, the gallery adds overflow seating, and wheelchair access makes it usable for mixed-mobility groups. For organisers running a rural or district-wide programme, its location on the inland route between New Plymouth and Stratford is convenient. See more Taranaki venues.
