About Kinross

Kinross is a winery, cellar door, bistro and cottage stay at 2300 Gibbston Highway in the Gibbston Valley, Central Otago, east of Queenstown. The property record lists 14 rooms.

History

The site was originally Kinross Station, established in the late 1860s by Scottish pioneer Thomas Kinross, who ran a trading post and farm. The property's website says current owners Christine and John Erkkila bought it in early 2013 and developed the winery and hospitality venue. A heritage orchard planted over a century ago supplies fruit to the bistro.

  • Kinross Bistro: menus inspired by seasonal regional produce.
  • Cottages: Kinross Cottages sit across 16 hectares of working vineyard, including the Orchard and Pisa Cottages.
