The Lincoln Event Centre is a purpose-built indoor events and recreation facility at 15 Meijer Drive in Lincoln, about 25 minutes south-west of Christchurch. It is owned and operated by Selwyn District Council and is described by the council as one of Selwyn's largest purpose-built indoor entertainment venues, handling gala dinners, exhibitions, conferences and annual meetings alongside community and sporting use.
The centre is built around a large stadium space with a series of adjoining lounges and a hall, which can be combined or used separately.
Overall the venue can accommodate up to 1,000 people, with break-out rooms of varying sizes.
The centre offers free on-site parking, free wi-fi and standard audio-visual throughout. There are on-site kitchen and bar areas for morning and afternoon tea and lunch, and a commercial kitchen is available for hire at an additional hourly charge. The venue can be booked on an exclusive-use basis.
The combination of a single large room, a stage-equipped hall and three smaller lounges makes the centre workable as a standalone conference venue: plenary in the Liffey Stadium, concurrent sessions in the lounges, catering in the foyer and bar areas, and a welcome function or gala dinner on the same site. The council markets it for conferences, seminars and workshops as well as functions.
Lincoln Event Centre is a practical choice for Canterbury regional conferences, primary-sector and research events, expos, trade days and awards dinners where delegates drive in and parking matters. Its proximity to Lincoln University and the surrounding agricultural research cluster makes it particularly relevant to agri-science, education and rural-sector programmes.
