Matakauri Lodge — trading as Rosewood Matakauri — sits on the shore of Lake Wakatipu at Farrycroft Row, 569 Glenorchy Road, roughly a seven-minute drive from central Queenstown and about 15 minutes from Queenstown Airport. It is a small luxury lodge within Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, and forms part of the group's New Zealand trio alongside Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers in the North Island. The property suits incentive groups, executive retreats and board-level programmes where privacy, scenery and service depth matter more than delegate volume.

### Accommodation and facilities

Accommodation is a mix of suites and villas, all oriented to the lake and mountain outlook. Room types include the Grand Lake View Suite (85 sq m, with open fireplace and private balcony), the Lake View Two Bedroom Villa (250 sq m, two ensuite bedrooms and a living area), and the Matakauri Four Bedroom Villa (405 sq m, with a large living and dining area, open fireplace, full kitchen, infinity-edge jacuzzi and sheltered courtyard). Rosewood's events material describes the property as 12 suites plus the four-bedroom signature villa. Interiors were designed by Virginia Fisher.

### Meeting, incentive and event capability

Rosewood markets Matakauri for residential single-day and multi-day programmes, retreats, private dinners and weddings, with dedicated event spaces, a weddings programme and a resort buyout offer. Because of its scale, the most useful MICE proposition is exclusive use: a full-lodge takeover gives a group the entire property, its dining rooms, lounges and grounds. Individual spaces are intimate rather than large — the Main Dining Room is set up for gatherings of around 12, and the Lower Lounge for around 20. Groups needing plenary space for hundreds will need to look elsewhere; groups of up to roughly 30 to 40 will find a genuinely private residential venue.

### Dining, spa and wellness

Dining is centred on The Dining Room, serving modern New Zealand cuisine built around Central Otago produce, with the alfresco Remarkables Terrace for outdoor service and a range of private dining settings. Wellness facilities include a spa, an outdoor pool area with plunge pools and a cedar sauna, and a fitness centre. Day spa passes are offered to non-resident guests. On-property and regional experiences include stargazing, an artist-in-residence programme, lake picnics, Gibbston Valley winery visits, scenic helicopter flights to Milford Sound and heli-skiing.
