Mataura Community Centre
Mataura Community Centre is a Gore District Council facility on McQueen Avenue in the centre of Mataura township, standing next to the Mataura Service Centre and library. The centre opened in 2008 following a build cost of around $1.3 million.
Facilities The centre is built around an auditorium with seating for approximately 220 people and a first-class sound system, making it the largest public function space in Mataura. A small kitchen supports catering for events, and three additional meeting areas are available in the adjoining Mataura senior citizens' rooms, giving organisers flexibility for breakout sessions alongside the main auditorium.
MICE relevance The auditorium's scale and sound system suit presentations, conferences, community meetings, performances and larger social functions, while the adjoining meeting rooms allow for smaller concurrent sessions or workshops. As a council-run venue in a small township, it is a practical, no-frills option for organisers needing a sizeable gathering space in the Gore district.
Bookings and enquiries are handled through the Mataura Service Centre. For other options in the wider area, see Invercargill venues.
