Mercure Tauranga is an 80-room hotel at 28 Brown Street in central Tauranga. The property was previously known as Hotel Armitage and Conference Centre before undergoing a multimillion-dollar refurbishment, begun around 2020, and reopening under the Mercure brand on 1 May 2026. The rebrand made it Tauranga's first internationally branded hotel and brought Accor's New Zealand portfolio to 49 properties.
The refurbishment covered guest rooms, public areas, and food and beverage spaces, with further work planned for conference facilities and recreational amenities including the pool area. The existing hotel team was retained through the transition.
For meetings and events, Mercure Tauranga has five function rooms catering from small meetings up to larger events. Its two largest rooms, Totara and Kowhai, can be combined into one space for plenary sessions, conferences, gala dinners and banquets, with reported capacity of up to around 200 guests theatre-style or 120 banquet-style. The hotel offers complimentary wifi and parking for guests and event attendees.
Located in Tauranga's central business district, Mercure Tauranga combines city-centre accommodation with conference space under an internationally recognised hotel brand, making it a straightforward option for corporate meetings, conferences and events in the Bay of Plenty.
