Muy Muy is an Oaxaca-inspired tapas and margarita bar at 44 Welles Street in Christchurch's central city, occupying part of the large converted warehouse that makes up the Welles Street site. The menu draws on the flavours of Mexico and Central America with some local reworking, served tapas-style, and the bar runs margaritas alongside a range of craft beers.
Layout. The warehouse is divided into distinct areas, from intimate booths for small groups through to long communal tables that seat large parties. That mix means the venue handles both a two-person dinner and a full team booking without feeling forced.
Atmosphere. Live music runs daily and ranges from traditional Mexican guitar through to more contemporary acts. Sundays feature salsa dancing, and the venue runs Latin parties monthly. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday and Sunday 11am-10.30pm, and Friday to Saturday 11am-midnight.
For MICE organisers. This is one of the more genuinely function-capable venues in central Christchurch. Muy Muy states it can host groups from 40 people through to private functions of up to 400 - a scale that covers everything from a team dinner to a full conference social night or welcome function. The central-city location puts it within walking distance of Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre and most CBD hotels.
