Nelson Function Centre

Nelson Function Centre is a dedicated conference and function venue at Tahunanui, set on the edge of the Nelson Golf Course with decks facing the Mount Arthur Ranges. It is close to Nelson Airport and to Tahunanui Beach, and has on-site parking. The venue offers four function areas and a full catering service.

Spaces

The centre publishes the following room dimensions and configurations:

• Main Function Room — 13 m x 13 m. Seats 150 banquet or 200 theatre. Fitted with a sound system and a data projector, and has a balcony.
• Clubroom Lounge — 13 m x 8 m, with a balcony and views.
• Board Room — 9 m x 6 m, seating up to 20 in a range of configurations.
• Café — 16 m x 7 m, with a large balcony looking towards the Mount Arthur Ranges.

Rooms can be configured to suit the event, and organisers can use the venue's furniture or bring their own.

Facilities and catering

The venue describes its rooms as spacious, light, air-conditioned and heated. Sound and video equipment is installed in the conference areas, which are acoustically treated, and wireless internet is available on site. A full catering service is provided in-house. Both major function rooms open onto balconies.

Suitability for meetings and events

Nelson Function Centre is set up specifically for business conferences, corporate dinners, training sessions, end-of-year functions, weddings and family events. Its practical strength for MICE work is that it covers a full conference day in one building: a plenary room for up to 200 theatre-style, a lounge and café for catering and networking breaks, and a board room for a committee session or organiser's office. Installed AV, acoustic treatment, in-house catering, plenty of parking and proximity to the airport make it a straightforward option for regional conferences, association meetings and incentive dinners where delegates are arriving by air or by car rather than walking from city-centre hotels.
