About Parcels Restaurant

Parcels Restaurant

Parcels Restaurant is the main dining venue at Distinction Dunedin Hotel, 6 Liverpool Street, in Dunedin's Warehouse Precinct. The hotel occupies the city's former Chief Post Office, built in 1937 and used as a post office until 1994, since converted into a 4.5-star hotel.

Parcels is open daily for breakfast (buffet from 6am, à la carte until 11am), lunch (12pm–4pm), afternoon high tea (12pm–4pm) and dinner (5pm–10pm), serving cuisine described as blending traditional dishes with a modern flair. A dedicated kids' menu, highchairs and activity sheets are provided for younger diners, and restaurant gift vouchers are available.

For private dining, the hotel has converted the original underground vaults of the former Chief Post Office — where gold bullion was once stored — into four private dining vaults, accessed through their original steel doors. Each vault holds between 2 and 12 guests, retaining features such as the heavy vault doors, chandeliers and antique lamps that give the space a 1930s speakeasy character. The hotel also has separate conference and function rooms for larger meetings and events, bookable through its conference facility.

As part of a full-service hotel, Parcels Restaurant and its Vaults private dining rooms suit business breakfasts, working lunches, high tea functions and intimate private dinners for delegates or incentive groups staying at or visiting Distinction Dunedin Hotel, with the heritage post office setting adding a distinctive backdrop among Dunedin venues hosting MICE business.
