Rosella Wine Bar is a two-storey bar and restaurant at 18 Majoribanks Street in Mount Victoria, Wellington, close to the eastern edge of the CBD. It is housed in an 1886 house and was opened by co-owners Johnon MacDonald and Kat Strand as a neighbourhood wine bar.
The kitchen explores Mediterranean, North African and Middle Eastern flavours in a modern, share-style format, with a strong hand in seafood — steamed butterfish, pickled mussels and sugar-cured king salmon among the dishes — served on plates handmade by Island Bay potter Nicola Shuttleworth. The beverage programme centres on a diverse, European-leaning wine list alongside herbaceous, floral cocktails. Rosella is closed Mondays, with extended Friday and Saturday hours for its upstairs cocktail bar.
That upstairs space is available for canapé functions and cocktail events, giving the venue a dedicated private-event option.
For MICE and social organisers, Rosella suits intimate cocktail functions, canapé receptions, small group dinners and client entertaining in a characterful heritage setting near the city. See more Wellington venues for events across the region.
