Rydges Formosa Auckland Golf Resort is a golf and conference resort at 110 Jack Lachlan Drive, Beachlands, on Auckland's eastern coast. The resort covers about 170 hectares and looks out over the Hauraki Gulf. Being out of the city but still within the Auckland region makes it a practical choice for off-site conferences, corporate golf days, team retreats and weddings.
Accommodation is in 50 one-bedroom villas set along the golf course, and they can be converted into two-bedroom units. Some villas look out over the Hauraki Gulf. Each villa has a king bed or two queens, a lounge area, a TV with casting capability, free wi-fi, and a bathroom with a separate walk-in shower, a bath and a skylight.
The resort's 18-hole championship course was designed by Sir Bob Charles, the 1963 Open Championship winner. It has five tee positions and electric carts for getting around the course, which suits golf days and incentive tournaments for players of mixed ability.
The resort has six flexible event spaces and can host up to 280 guests. Three of the spaces have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Hauraki Gulf. Maraetai and Omana can be combined into a single room for conferences and events of up to about 200 delegates, and smaller rooms are available for breakouts and boardroom meetings.
Nineteen is the resort's restaurant, open daily for breakfast through to dinner, and the bar is open from morning until late. Both are on site for delegate lunches, conference dinners and post-golf functions.
With meeting space for up to 280 guests, a championship golf course and villa accommodation all on one site, Rydges Formosa is well suited to residential conferences, leadership retreats, corporate golf days and incentive programmes that want a resort setting without leaving Auckland.
