The Piano: Centre for Music and the Arts is a purpose-built performance and events venue on Armagh Street in central Christchurch. Designed around music and the arts, it offers acoustically refined spaces supported by an on-site event team, suitable for both performances and corporate functions.
The centrepiece Concert Hall seats around 330 and was designed with flexible, state-of-the-art acoustics; it is fully soundproofed and wired for modern lighting and audio-visual production. The double-height Atrium foyer, featuring a large glass façade and a bar, seats about 120 and works well as a pre- or post-event function space. The Chamber, lined with the building's signature wooden acoustic panelling, is a warm room seating roughly 100, suited to recitals, workshops and meetings. The Box, a 50 m² room with a sprung floor and natural light, seats around 50, while a smaller Rehearsal Studio of about 25 m² caters to teaching, rehearsals and intimate meetings.
This range of fit-for-purpose spaces makes The Piano well suited to conferences and seminars, recitals and showcases, workshops, product launches and corporate functions. Its central location, quality acoustics and adaptable rooms give organisers flexibility for events from small meetings to full concert-scale gatherings. See more Christchurch venues.
