History The hotel occupies the former Wellesley Club building, designed by William Gray Young and built 1925-1927 in neo-Georgian style. It is listed Category 1 on the New Zealand Heritage List (List No. 233). The club moved out in 2014; the building became a boutique hotel in 1997.
