QT Wellington is a 4-star waterfront hotel at 90 Cable Street, steps from Oriental Bay and the Takina convention centre, about 15 minutes on foot from the railway station and a 10-minute drive from the airport. It is known for its art-led design, with a large private art collection displayed through the lobby and public spaces.
History The hotel opened in 1987 as the Michael Fowler Hotel and later traded as the Museum Hotel before becoming QT Wellington in 2017. In 1993 the building was moved more than 100 metres from the site now occupied by Te Papa, a move that took just over five months.
Meetings and events The hotel lists seven event spaces: Le Salon, The Billiards Room, The Senna Room, The Tamburini Room, Gallery Lounge, Hippo Bar & Restaurant and Hot Sauce. The Senna Room seats 70 for dinner and The Billiards Room holds up to 100 for cocktail events. See other Wellington venues.
