Vintners Retreat is a villa-style property on Rapaura Road in the heart of Marlborough's vineyards, between Blenheim and Renwick, with the Richmond Ranges and the braided Wairau River nearby. It is a self-contained alternative to a hotel for groups that want to stay together in wine country.
The property has nine villas across four styles: Stable, Lodge, Manor and Three Bedroom Lodge. All are fully self-contained, fitted to a high standard and serviced daily, with two bathrooms, a full kitchen, washer and dryer, dishwasher, private outdoor space and a barbecue on the patio. Villas sleep from a couple up to six, so a full-property booking accommodates a sizeable group while giving each sub-group its own front door and living room.
The four-acre grounds include a 12-metre solar-heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a boules strip and croquet sets. The Wairau River stop bank alongside the property is used for cycling, walking and running, and the operators can help arrange bike hire. Three wineries are within about five minutes' walk, with many more 10 to 15 minutes away on foot or by bike, which makes self-directed wine touring straightforward without transfers.
Vintners Retreat markets itself directly to the corporate market, describing the property as ideally placed for executive retreats and corporate incentive programmes and citing flight times of about 20 minutes from Wellington, 40 minutes from Christchurch and around an hour and a half from Auckland into Marlborough Airport.
There is no published dedicated conference room, theatre-style capacity or in-house restaurant, so this is not a plenary venue. What it does offer is an exclusive-use buyout of nine serviced villas on private grounds, with villa living and dining areas used for working sessions and caterers or nearby winery restaurants handling meals. That profile suits small residential retreats, leadership offsites, incentive rewards and partner programmes rather than large conferences. Planners should confirm meeting-room arrangements, catering and full-property availability directly with the operator.
