Whangarei Quarry Gardens is a subtropical community garden in Kensington, Whangārei, created by volunteers on the site of a former stone quarry and now managed by the Whangarei Quarry Gardens Trust. The gardens hold International Camellia Garden of Excellence status and NZ Gardens Trust badge recognition.
The grounds include walking paths, an on-site Quail Cafe (Wednesday to Sunday, 9am–3pm) and a visitor centre, with electric golf cart tours available for visitors needing assistance. The gardens are open daily from 9am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day), with a suggested donation of $10 per adult; groups of ten or more are asked to pre-book.
Beyond general visits, the gardens are used for weddings, theatrical performances and community celebrations, giving the space genuine outdoor function capability for groups seeking a distinctive garden setting in Whangārei. The site is entirely smoke- and vape-free, and dogs are not permitted, as kiwi live within the gardens.
For incentive groups or event organisers wanting a memorable Northland outdoor venue, Whangarei Quarry Gardens offers a landscaped, story-rich alternative to a conventional function room.
