Sherwood Park Golf Club is an 18-hole course on Millington Road at Maunu, about 7 km west of Whangārei. The club opened in 1967 and the course is open to the public as well as to members.
### The course
Sherwood Park plays to par 71 over 18 holes. It is a gently undulating parkland layout set among groves of native trees, with natural stone walls running through the property, areas of grassland, and a volcanic cone forming part of the surrounding landscape. Native birds are a feature of the setting. Course descriptions note that the layout opens in relatively modest fashion and becomes more demanding through the back nine, so it offers a genuine test without being punishing for mid- and high-handicap players.
### Facilities
The club has a pro shop stocking balls, tees, hats, gloves, shoes and clothing, with club repair services available, and a café on site.
### Suitability for MICE groups
For conference and incentive programming out of Whangārei, Sherwood Park is a short transfer from the city and offers a scenic, walkable round suited to a corporate ambrose or scramble where abilities vary. The native bush and stone-wall setting gives the day a distinctly Northland character rather than a generic course experience, which is useful when the golf is functioning as an incentive reward or a partner-programme activity rather than a serious competition.
The on-site café supports a casual post-round gathering. Green fees, cart availability, hire clubs, tee-time blocks for larger groups and any function catering should be confirmed directly with the club, as these are not published. See more Northland activities for complementary delegate options.
