Whangārei Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course at 10 Par Lane, Tikipunga, roughly five minutes from central Whangārei. The club dates back to 1907, making it one of Northland's long-established golf clubs, and the course is open to the public as well as to members.
### The course
The layout plays to par 72 over approximately 6,028 yards. It is a parkland course set among native bush and rolling countryside, with undulating fairways, subtle elevation changes, mature native trees through the property and open views across the surrounding country. The combination of a full-length par-72 card and a walkable parkland setting makes it playable for a broad range of handicaps rather than only low-markers.
### Facilities
The clubhouse seats up to 120 and has a full bar with catering available, so a round can be followed by a sit-down meal, prizegiving or informal function on site without moving the group.
The club also operates indoor golf simulators under the name F.O.R.E, offering simulated play and swing analysis with its own online booking. This is a genuinely useful feature for event programming: it provides an all-weather, indoor golf option that does not depend on daylight or conditions, and it can run alongside or instead of an on-course round.
### Suitability for MICE groups
The club is well positioned for conference and incentive use. Its proximity to the Whangārei CBD keeps transfer times short for delegates based in the city, the 120-seat clubhouse with bar and catering supports a dinner or awards element attached to the day, and the simulator bays give organisers a wet-weather fallback or a shorter, more social format for delegates who do not want a full round — a common problem with golf in a mixed conference group.
Possible formats include a partner programme round while delegates are in session, a post-conference ambrose day, or a simulator-based team competition as an evening activity. Green fees, tee-time block bookings, simulator bay numbers and function pricing are not published here and should be confirmed with the club directly.
