NZ China Products Expo 2026 returns to Auckland, moving into the new NZICC

MICE editorial — 23 October 2026 Auckland Tier A

The New Zealand China Products Expo returns to Auckland on 20-22 November 2026 at the New Zealand International Convention Centre, a free-entry trade exhibition organised by the Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand with the NZ China Trade Association. The 2025 edition drew more than 13,000 visitors and over 1,100 New Zealand professional buyers.

The New Zealand China Products Expo returns to Auckland on 20-22 November 2026, moving into the newly opened New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in the city's CBD. The free-entry trade exhibition pairs New Zealand importers and retail buyers with Chinese manufacturers across food and beverage, building materials, light industry and textiles, culture and tourism, green energy, artificial intelligence and the digital economy. First staged in 2022, the expo has grown into one of Auckland's larger China-facing trade events: its 2025 edition drew more than 13,000 visitors and over 1,100 New Zealand professional buyers.

Who runs it

The expo is hosted by the Canton Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand (CCCNZ) together with the New Zealand China Trade Association (NZCTA). The two bodies launched the event in 2022 as the "New Zealand Guangdong Products Expo" at Auckland's Trust Arena, backed by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade's Guangdong committee. That inaugural edition covered more than 10,000 square metres, featured over 150 Guangdong exhibitors, and organisers reported more than 50,000 buyers passed through. The 2026 edition has been promoted through China's commercial channels in Auckland, with a July 2026 launch event attended by the Deputy Consul-General, Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown and the New Zealand China Chamber of Commerce president.

Who it's for

The expo is built around trade buyers and the general public alike. Exhibits are organised into product categories spanning food and beverages, building materials, light industry and textiles, culture and tourism, green energy, AI and the digital economy, with provincial and city pavilions showcasing exhibitors in custom-built booths. Entry is free for all visitors, and the event is timed ahead of the pre-Christmas retail season. For exhibitors, organisers package the show with a 12-month programme of follow-on services, including e-commerce consignment, free warehousing, showroom display and marketing support, positioning the expo as an entry point to the New Zealand market rather than a single trading day.

The venue and logistics

The 2026 expo is held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre on Hobson Street in Auckland's CBD, the SkyCity-operated venue that opened in February 2026. NZICC offers a convention capacity of around 3,150 and can hold up to 4,000 people for one-off events, with exhibition halls, a theatre and tiered meeting spaces. For an event drawing tens of thousands of visitors over three days, the central location matters: the venue sits within a 10-minute walk of more than 8,000 hotel rooms, alongside the CBD's dining, shopping and entertainment. Auckland Airport lies roughly 20 kilometres south of the city centre, connected by motorway and the city's public transport network, making the CBD an accessible base for interstate and overseas delegates and for the Chinese manufacturer delegations the expo hosts.

Why it matters for New Zealand MICE

As one of the first major trade exhibitions to book the newly opened NZICC, the China Products Expo is a useful marker of how Auckland's purpose-built convention centre is being used beyond conferences, for large-footprint exhibitions that move thousands of trade and public visitors through the CBD. China remains one of New Zealand's largest trading partners, and a recurring, buyer-heavy expo of this scale concentrates that bilateral trade activity into a single Auckland week each November, with knock-on demand for accommodation, hospitality and delegate services across the central city.
