MICE editorial — 02 September 2026 Auckland Tier A

A confirmed two-day national prevention and wellbeing conference (8–9 Oct 2026) at The Parnell Hotel & Conference Centre, Auckland, run by the FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute / NZCDI with live ticketing on Humanitix.

The Prevention Imperative: New Zealand Universal Wellbeing Conference 2026

The second New Zealand Prevention Imperative: Universal Wellbeing Conference brings together researchers, practitioners, educators, policymakers, health professionals and community and organisational leaders for two days of prevention-focused discussion, research and networking.

Dates and venue

The conference runs 8–9 October 2026 (Thursday 9am to Friday 5pm NZDT) at The Parnell Hotel & Conference Centre, 10/20 Gladstone Road, Parnell, Auckland.

Who runs it

The event is hosted by The Free Research and Educational Equity Trust and sponsored by the FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute and the New Zealand Curriculum Design Institute (NZCDI). It is convened by Susan Stevenson, Founder and Director of the FREEDOM Wellbeing Institute, with live ticketing open on Humanitix.

Programme focus

Grounded in the Universal Wellbeing Model and implementation science, the programme explores moving from awareness to implementation and strategic action across health, education, government, community and organisational settings. The event also marks the national launch of The Source, a resource platform for prevention-focused wellbeing practitioners.

Verification

The listing is corroborated by the official conference website (nzcdi.ac.nz), the organiser's own site (freedom-ihe.ac.nz), live Humanitix ticketing, and independent listings by the Health Research Council of New Zealand and the NZ Education Gazette.

Why it matters in NZ MICE

A repeat national conference anchored to a single Parnell conference hotel, drawing a cross-sector health, education and community delegate base into inner Auckland — a compact, association-style event of exactly the type that builds the city's mid-scale business-events calendar.
