Chateau on the Park is set in five acres of gardens on Deans Avenue in Riccarton, Christchurch, close to Hagley Park and around 2.9 km from the city centre. Designed by architect Peter Beavan in 1975, it is one of the few surviving examples of his distinctive Gothic-influenced style following the Christchurch earthquakes, which destroyed several of his other buildings. The property joined the Hilton portfolio as a DoubleTree by Hilton in August 2016, under Singapore-based ownership. It was used as a managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facility during the COVID-19 period and underwent a full refresh before reopening.
The hotel has 192 rooms, including King Deluxe Balcony Rooms, Chateau Junior Suites and One Bedroom Suites, set within the garden grounds.
Chateau on the Park is a substantial conference venue, with 11 event rooms and outdoor spaces totalling around 1,035 m². The Great Hall is the largest space, seating up to 340 theatre-style or 240 for a banquet, and can be divided into smaller configurations (Great Hall 1, 2 and 3). The distinctive Camelot Room (262 m²), with its high timber-stud ceiling and dual fire pits, holds up to 160 for a reception. Other spaces include the Tower Room, Little Red Fox, and the smaller Ballantyne boardroom, plus outdoor options in the Poolside and Camelot Courtyards. The hotel offers on-site AV technology and 170 car parks.
The Garden Court Brasserie offers all-day dining looking over the gardens, and the Little Red Fox Bar (also known as the Den Bar) serves drinks, bar snacks and dinner. Guests have access to a heated outdoor pool and a fitness centre, and free on-site parking and Wi-Fi.
With its scale of function space, garden setting and large room inventory, Chateau on the Park is well suited to residential conferences, incentive events and large functions in Christchurch venues.
