Plymouth International Hotel is at 220 Courtenay Street, on the corner of Courtenay and Leach Streets in New Plymouth. It describes itself as New Plymouth's largest independently owned hotel, conference facility and events centre, and is Qualmark rated 4 star. The property previously traded as Quality Hotel Plymouth International.
The hotel has 76 rooms and suites, ranging from contemporary studios to deluxe king studios and dual-living Plymouth Suites with a double spa bath. This is the property's main strength for MICE business. Plymouth International has seven air-conditioned, fully adaptable conference and function rooms, with total capacity for up to 700 people. The spaces scale from small intimate meeting rooms through to fully catered events, and the hotel's inventory includes what it describes as New Plymouth's only Grand Ballroom.
Combined with 76 rooms on the same site, that gives the venue genuine residential-conference capability: plenary, multiple concurrent breakouts, a gala dinner space and delegate accommodation without transfers. Seven adaptable rooms also make it viable for exhibitions, trade displays and multi-stream programmes that need rooms turned over between sessions.
The Orangery Restaurant is the hotel's a la carte dining room, specialising in flame dining. Conference and function catering is handled in-house by the hotel's events team.
Plymouth International is the largest-capacity single-site conference and events option of this group of hotels. It suits association and industry conferences, awards nights, gala dinners, trade displays, weddings and multi-day residential programmes of up to several hundred people. Groups needing ballroom-scale banqueting in Taranaki should have it on the shortlist of New Plymouth venues.
