Rosewood Cape Kidnappers is a luxury lodge in Hawke's Bay on the east coast of the North Island. It sits near Te Awanga on about 2,400 hectares (6,000 acres) of private land on the headlands above the Pacific Ocean. The estate is a working farm, a wildlife sanctuary and a golf destination. It suits small executive groups, incentive winners, board retreats and private celebrations that want seclusion and a high level of service.
The lodge has 22 suites, each with a large porch overlooking the Pacific. Hilltop Junior Suites are about 47 m², and Suites are about 65 m² and sleep up to three, with views across the farm, the golf course and Hawke's Bay. Published rates include breakfast, pre-dinner drinks and hors d'oeuvres, dinner and the minibar. Spa treatments and golf are charged separately.
The par-71, 18-hole golf course was designed by Tom Doak and runs across rolling hills and clifftops above the sea. It regularly appears in international rankings of the world's leading courses. The lodge also has a spa. Guests can explore the walking trails, go stargazing, or take a tour to Cape Kidnappers, home to the world's largest mainland gannet colony.
Rosewood promotes Cape Kidnappers as a year-round retreat for corporate and leisure groups, offering bespoke dining for single- or multi-day gatherings, and it publishes group retreat offers for exclusive use. Because the lodge is small, events are usually small too, planned around the estate so that meetings sit alongside golf, dining and outdoor experiences. Planners should confirm meeting-room configurations and capacities directly with the lodge.
The lodge was developed by the Robertson family as one of the Robertson Lodges. On 1 December 2023, Cape Kidnappers, Kauri Cliffs and Matakauri joined the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts portfolio, and the property was renamed Rosewood Cape Kidnappers. It is also listed in the MICHELIN Guide's hotel selection.
Rosewood Cape Kidnappers suits top-tier incentive programmes, leadership retreats, board meetings and exclusive-use celebrations for small groups. Hawke's Bay's wineries and food scene are close by for excursions.
