The biggest hotels in Wellington by room count

Wellington runs on walkability. The capital's business district, waterfront and the Tākina convention centre sit within a few flat blocks of each other, so a conference here rarely needs buses — but it still needs beds. For a residential programme the key question is which hotels can hold the largest single room block, keeping delegates together and close to the venue.

The ranking below reads live from the MICE directory, ordered by total room count, so you can quickly see Wellington's largest properties. Most cluster in the CBD and along the harbour, within walking distance of Tākina, Te Papa and the waterfront function spaces. Pair a hotel's own meeting rooms with the wider venues directory, or browse every property in the accommodation directory.

Because room numbers change as hotels refurbish or reconfigure, use this as a shortlist and confirm current room counts, group rates and function capacity directly with each hotel. MICE holds the national picture in one place so you can weigh Wellington against other cities on the same basis.
