ASURE Pukekura Motor Lodge

ASURE Pukekura Motor Lodge is a 24-room motel at 141 Coronation Avenue in Welbourn, about 1.5 km from the New Plymouth city centre. It is part of the ASURE Accommodation Group, and has been operated since 2019 by Law and his family.

All rooms are self-contained and the mix is unusually varied for a property of this size. Studios are set up with a king bed and a separate work desk, which the operators note is popular with business travellers; kitchenette studios add a cooktop, rangehood, microwave and fridge; deluxe studios are upstairs with a distant ocean outlook; and twin studios sit on the ground floor with easy access, sleep three and open onto a semi-private courtyard backing onto bush. One-bedroom units sleep four and include a full kitchen with oven and cooktop, and two-bedroom units sleep up to five with a full kitchen. Rooms are double-glazed and have smart flat-screen TVs, electric blankets and unlimited ultra-fast Wi-Fi.

Shared facilities are free parking, an on-site fitness centre and guest laundry. There is no meeting room, conference space or restaurant, so for organisers this is a delegate accommodation option rather than a venue in its own right. Its strengths for that role are the work-desk studios for solo travellers, the larger self-catering units for people sharing, and a quiet setting off the main road.

The lodge is roughly 600 metres from the Te Henui Walkway and a few minutes' drive from Pukekura Park, the TSB Bowl of Brooklands, Puke Ariki and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre, making it a practical base for delegates attending events at those venues.
