Horizon by SkyCity is a five-star hotel at 85 Hobson Street, forming the newest hotel tower within the SkyCity Auckland entertainment precinct. It is directly connected to the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) via air bridges over Hobson Street, and to the rest of the SkyCity complex, positioning it specifically for conference and convention delegates. This property's record shows 298 rooms.
The hotel was originally due to open in 2019 but was delayed - including by a fire at the adjoining convention-centre construction site - before finally completing and opening in 2023, as part of SkyCity's roughly $700 million NZICC and hotel development. The wider NZICC itself did not officially open until 13 February 2026, with 33 meeting spaces, a 2,850-seat theatre and capacity for conventions of around 3,150 delegates (up to 4,000 for one-off events) - giving Horizon by SkyCity's guests direct, air-bridge access to one of the largest convention facilities in New Zealand.
Horizon by SkyCity's rooms include Elite King rooms and a number of suites, several featuring separate lounge and working areas alongside the bedroom. Guests have access to the Horizon Club Lounge on the 24th floor, which offers a breakfast buffet, light refreshments, evening cocktails and priority check-in/check-out, along with complimentary use of the Horizon Club meeting rooms for up to two hours a day, subject to availability - useful for small executive meetings in addition to the adjoining NZICC's large-scale conference capacity.
The Grill is Horizon by SkyCity's signature restaurant, with a private dining room and an open-air courtyard. The hotel does not have a swimming pool - guests wanting a pool, spa and sauna are directed to its sister property, The Grand by SkyCity, within the wider complex. A 24-hour gymnasium is available on-site, and East Day Spa, within the broader SkyCity precinct, offers beauty and massage treatments.
With its direct air-bridge connection to the NZICC, Horizon by SkyCity is positioned as Auckland's most convention-oriented hotel, suited to residential delegates attending large-scale conferences and conventions at the adjoining centre, as well as corporate travellers wanting proximity to the CBD's casino and entertainment precinct.
